‘Read Together’

Dear parents/carers,

We would like to invite you to our ‘Read Together’ sessions that will be taking place every week in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. 

The sessions will take place in your child’s classroom.  The first sessions will take place during the week commencing 29th January 2024 and each week thereafter.  The sessions will be from 8:35am until 8:55am.  On these days, you and your child will enter the school building via the external classroom door at 8:35am and not at their normal entrance time to allow this session to take place.  However, if you are not able to attend the reading session(s), your child should arrive at their normal school entrance time at the main gate and wait to be called in.  At the end of the session, parents/carers will need to again use the external doors and leave via the side gate before it closes at 9.00am.  There will be no access to the main building.

These short sessions are a great opportunity to spend some time with your child in their classroom environment and to help them build on their reading and comprehension skills, as well as encouraging them to read for pleasure.  There will be a variety of fiction and non fiction texts available for you to share together.  You can also sign your child’s reading diary during this session to count towards one of their 3x weekly reads.  

Please note these sessions are completely flexible.  You or a family member may come in every week or during the weeks you can make it.   There will be a register to sign upon entry for health and safety purposes only.  We also ask that you do not use any mobile phones or take any photographs during these sessions.    

Class session days: 

Willow 1:  Monday

Willow 2:  Tuesday

Birch & Chestnut: Wednesday

Beech & Elder: Thursday
