Dear parents/carers,

Year 2 Basic Skills Booster Sessions

I am writing to let you know that we will be running some additional support groups for target children in

Year 2 in reading, writing and maths during the afternoon sessions in school.

We have identified that some children would benefit from some extra support outside of their English and Maths lessons in order to boost some of their basic literacy and maths skills. Therefore, children may be involved in group work with either Miss Harris or Miss Lezano (Year 2 class teachers), who will be running some of the additional teaching groups, as well as some focused group work with the Higher Level Teaching Assistants working within the key stage. If your child’s report identified that they were working towards or below age related expectations, then it is likely that they will access some of these booster type groups for periods during the afternoon sessions.

This letter is just for information to let you know that we will be organising these sessions, so you are

aware, should your child tell you they have been working in a small group on some of their literacy and

maths skills.
